The film reveals the rich history of the steel industry in Stark County, Ohio. The documentary contains historical stories and images that document the growth, prosperity and evolution of a once agricultural rural community into an important steel manufacturing locale.

After the Civil War, Stark County attracted thousands of workers to build an industry that supported the Country through military conflicts and important industrial innovations. The timeline covers more than 100 years from start-up through the decline of the steel industry in the County. Steelworkers have shared their personal histories and revealed the impact to Steelworkers and their families.

Announcement . . .

A revised Director's Cut (Stark Men of Steel-DC) is in process. The updated version of the documentary is scheduled for release in October 2026.

The new "Director's Cut" version will contain new images and stories, and will correct the changes to local industry that have occurred since the release of the original version in 2024.

Many have asked if they can either buy the film or rent it to stream, We have decided to bypass renting and all Blu-Ray copies have been sold. We will wait until 4th Quarter 2026 to make the new version available for streaming after the public premier of the new version.

Check your local library. The original version of Stark Men of Steel is available to borrow on Blu-Ray Disc both at the Stark County Library and the Massillon Library.
