The Following Have Demonstrated Support for the October 23rd Event and for Steelworkers and Veterans
Angela Watkins
Massillon resident Angela Watkins, daughter of John Uliveto—a survivor of the infamous 1937 steel strike—found herself captivated after catching the 2024 premiere of STARK MEN OF STEEL.
Driven by curiosity, she journeyed into the depths of Massillon, Ohio to unearth the untold stories of the Little Steel Strike. Her book, Massillon Steel: The 1937 Columbia Heights Massacre sheds light on information nearly a century old, while unveiling details that have waited generations to be told.
Ms. Watkins will be at the Lions Lincoln Theatre during the STARK MEN OF STEEL showing on October 23, 2025 where she will be selling her book. Find her in the lobby throughout the event. She has pledged 50% of the proceeds from the sale of her book at the event to the distribution of donations to the non-profit organizations named under Veterans Charities on this site.
Angela, a former broadcast and newspaper journalist, will be at the Lion’s Lincoln Theater on October 23. With every copy of her book sold, a share goes straight to Veteran’s Charities, honoring heroes like her father, who served as a Private First Class in World War II.

Fred DeGordon
Mr. DeGordon has donated the cost of the Theatre rental that made the showing of STARK MEN OF STEEL on October 23, 2025 possible. He is a retired veteran and a devotee of the history of Massillon, Ohio highlighting the steel industry that helped form the modern identity of the City.
